 Communication Cycle



1. Communication Cycle

Communication cycle is the process of exchanging messages between sender and receiver in a systematic way.


Steps of Communication Cycle:

1. Sender – Person who sends the message.

2. Message  – The information to be communicated.

3. Encoding  – Converting message into words, gestures, visuals.

4. Channel  – Mode of communication (speech, writing, phone, internet).

5. Receiver  – Person who receives the message.

6. Decoding  – Understanding the meaning of the message.

7. Feedback – Response of the receiver to the sender.


2. Feedback 

Definition:

 Feedback is the reply or reaction given by the receiver after understanding the message.

Feedback completes the communication cycle.


Qualities of Good Feedback:

1. Clear and Specific – Easy to understand.

2. Constructive – Should help in improvement.

3. Timely – Given at the right time.

4. Relevant – Related to the message.

5. Respectful – Polite and positive in tone.


3. Importance of Feedback

- Ensures that the receiver has understood the message.

- Helps the sender to know the effectiveness of communication.

- Builds better relationships and trust.

- Improves performance and learning.

- Reduces misunderstandings.
